Things to do at the Daintree River
The Daintree River has no bridge. m. to midnight, and it is the only way across for anyone driving north to Cape Tribulation. The crossing takes a few minutes and costs roughly 20 AUD return for a standard vehicle, more for camper vans and trailers. Queues build fast in the dry season (May to October) around mid-morning and late afternoon.
Beyond the ferry, the river itself is the reason to stop: a slow, mangrove-lined system that is the most reliable place in the region to see a saltwater crocodile from the safety of a flat-bottomed boat, rather than from a riverbank. Morning cruises, timed to the tide, tend to spot the most activity.
