Things to do in the Daintree Rainforest

The Daintree is reckoned to be the oldest continuously surviving tropical rainforest on Earth, dating back roughly 180 million years, well before the Amazon existed.

It forms part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland, UNESCO World Heritage listed since 1988, and it meets the Great Barrier Reef at the waterline near Cape Tribulation, one of only two places on the planet where two natural World Heritage sites touch. m. to midnight and charged per vehicle, and beyond it there is patchy phone coverage and no fuel until Cape Tribulation.

The dry season, May to October, is the easiest time to visit; the wet season, November to April, brings the forest to its most dramatic but can close roads.
